It has pretty good information about canoe selection. For myself, though, I would probably go with the Wilderness or the Prism. Actually, it would handle a 200 lb man, but not comfortably. Its the ideal canoe if you are taking a small child, but good on up into teen years. Its a Solo boat, but also can take another person. If planning to do the Devils or Pecos a lot, something like the Argosy would be better, but the above are better for flatter water as found in the long river pools in CenTex. I believe you would be quite comfortable paddling any of those boats on the upper Guad or the Llano. If its going to be primarily the Colorado, the Wenonah boats that will be best are probably the Vagabond, the Wilderness, the Prism at 16.6 ft., or the Solo Plus, also 16.6.Īll of them will work in Class III waters, but are better if kept to I and II waters. A lot of your need is going to depend on where you will mostly paddle the boat. You definitely want Royalex for Centex rivers. Its longer than the Vagabond, which is 14.6. Wenonah has a new solo model this year, the Wilderness.
